Domestic Team Duties When Working In the Homes

A typical day for the Domestic Staff at Hunters Hill begins with wash up after breakfast, cleaning and the kitchen area and appliances .( A comprehensive cleaning of the residential kitchens starts the week off on Monday morning, with cookers fridges hot cupboards, pantries & cupboards). Once the kitchen and dining room area are completed, the ladies then change their overalls before moving on throughout the home cleaning bathrooms, toilets, and office, bedrooms, lounge and play rooms. (Hygiene is a priority. It is extremely important that we do not inadvertently to carry any pathogenic bacteria in to the kitchens after working in toilets that is why we change our overalls) Every bedroom is checked, cleaned and vacuumed daily if necessary during the week. We toughly clean bedrooms (furniture moved paint work washed) at least once over a ten day period, if necessary daily so the rooms are fresh and clean
Hailey works in Frobisher House, "The staff and the children made me very welcome when I came to work here. Every day is different and I enjoy talking to the children"

Jenny works in Cropwood House also and has been with the school just under a year. "Cropwood House is very large and takes a lot of work to keep clean but I know the children appreciate our efforts. I enjoy working with Jackie and all the staff here."
Jayne has worked at the school just over 6 months; she works with Emma in Scott House Jayne said "It's a nice environment to work in with many friendly faces"
Nicola is our newest member of staff she joined us in September "Hunters Hill is a lovely place to work for all the staff and the children are always polite. It is good to do something different everyday as I work in all the homes on different days.
Tracy is located in Shackelton House and has been with us for one years Tracy said" It is great to get to know the children and the staff in Shackelton, although it can be extremely noisy at times it can be very worthwhile, I get on well with the children who always say hello
Jackie works in Cropwood House and has been with the school for 9 years she said "Cropwood is a lovely old house, but very large, it takes lots of work to keep it clean and sparkling. I like to see the floors shining and the brass door handles gleaning the results are well worth the effort and are appreciated by everyone.
Emma works in Scott House. Emma asked "where have 5 years gone?" that's how long she has been at the school. "I like working in Scott House, and I like to talk to all the children in the home".
Becky works in all the homes and helps out in the kitchen when needed she also works along side the caretaking team during the evening helping to clean the school Becky says "Working in the homes and the school made me realise just how much larger the site is than I first realised. The children have great facilities available to them. I really enjoy working here everyone is polite and easy to get on with. It's a great atmosphere.
Carmen works in Scott House and also looks after the family rooms. Carmen says "The staff are really friendly and I feel included and valued as part of the team. The children are also polite to me and very friendly and appreciate the work I do; it is a very pleasant place to work".
On alternating weeks, one half of the team works in the main school dining room, getting tables set with cutlery for lunch and then serving the midday meal. This is followed by yet again more washing up, and cleaning in the main school kitchen and dining room. Whilst one half of the team is busy with lunch the remaining team continue cleaning the residential home in which they are based, this gives us the opportunity to cleaning windows,, paintwork carpets etc. All the little jobs that can not be covered within the daily basic clean Quiet a task. Every member of the team take great personal satisfaction and pride in ensuring each home is clean fresh.
